The Imperfect Marketer
Stressed

Ever feel like this?

Frustrated, confused with "online marketing"?

Truth is, it's hard to stay motivated when you're working on your own. You don't have anyone to hold you accountable and it's easy to get off track.

Feeling unmotivated, lost, and uncertain is normal when you're starting out as a marketer. But these feelings can hold you back from achieving your goals.

Plus, with so much junk and misinformation about marketing online, figuring out what you need to learn and where to spend your energy is next to impossible.

If you're overwhelmed, don't know where to start, but know that you want to learn how to be an effective marketer and create & grow your own business, keep reading below.

Can I ask you a quick question?

How much would you pay for access to a detailed, step-by-step blueprint for building a profitable business?

How much for a guide that showed you exactly how to build a business online that turns a profit, in a variety of different ways?

I've asked many people the exact same question, and their answers have ranged from hundreds to thousands of dollars. One person even said $100,000!

I'm guessing if you really believed that blueprint existed, you'd probably be willing to pay a lot.

It makes sense right? I think if most people knew there was a detailed plan they could follow that could really make them money, they'd be willing to pay for the privilege.

Why do I ask this question?

I can help you build the successful business you're looking for.

But, honestly, it's something I've struggled with.

I created this free newsletter because I want to share all of my online business experiences with people like you.

But, it costs money to build an audience and have people sign up.

I just want to help people, and I always will, but I need to be realistic about how I can keep that up.

I also want to be perfectly transparent about what I envision for The Imperfect Marketer community.

What does that all mean?

To be blunt, I've created something that I personally believe is extremely valuable to people who are lost, confused and frustrated with online marketing.

It's something that can take them from never having made a single dollar online to making an actual, real, consistent profit.

Stop me if you've heard that before.

I'm sure you've heard it elsewhere, and so have I.

So, let me explain what I mean.

To do that, I need to tell you my story.

(bear with me, I promise it’ll be worth it ;) )

Who I am

I started advertising online around 2005.

At the time, I built an online content writing business with a friend in college, and we were moderately successful.

It made us a decent amount of beer money, and we were happy just letting that business sit around as a side hustle.

We learned a lot about building a business, but we were also in the process of graduating college, so it didn't make much sense to keep it going.

We assumed there were bigger and brighter things ahead!

Fast forward a year or two, and good news! The marketing agency I worked for out of college decided to buy that old business from us!

It wasn't a giant sale (mid 5 figures), but it was meaningful, and it felt like we had done something amazing. It felt great, but I knew that this was just the beginning.

Unfortunately, I didn't find a lot of joy in working for that marketing agency. It was dreary work, and I hated putting in a lot of effort just so that someone else could make money off of me.

Thankfully, I had learned a decent amount about online businesses, so I thought it long and hard, and then decided that this was the perfect time to set off on my own.

I didn't have many "real" responsibilities in life at the time. I was young and willing to take risks, and I simply wanted to see what I could do.

The risks/rewards of working for yourself

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. I went from a steady paycheck to hoping I could make things work by myself.

I didn't have a lot of savings, but I did have something that turned out to be more valuable than anything else I could have had. Confidence.

I took the skills I had honed in college and at my job, and made them work for me.

I leveraged relationships from people I had met, and started using my online advertising skills to generate leads for things like schools, auto loans & jobs.

Thankfully, my work experience had shown me exactly how to do all of that work profitably, and since I had connections, I was able to negotiate good rates for the work I was doing.

At the time, I was almost exclusively advertising on Facebook, and it was a bonanza. The only advertising at the time was through "right-column" ads, and there was hardly any customization you could do. It was, for lack of a better term, a free-for-all.

However, being young (and naive), I didn't push myself too hard.

I didn't try to maximize what I was doing and grow it into a "real" business with employees because I didn't want that responsibility.

Instead, I did what any "digital nomad" wants to do. I started traveling all around the world using the millions of credit card points I had accumulated from buying millions of dollars worth of advertising.

So, throughout my early to late 20s, I was able to travel almost everywhere I wanted, in first class, all while making money from wherever I happened to be.

Here's a collage I made from all the pics I had taken on my trips, giving a glimpse of what that life was like:

Did I love that life?

In some ways, sure.

At times I felt like I was on top of the world (because I literally often was), but at other times, I felt like there was something missing.

The travel and constant “partying” I was doing took a toll, not only on my health but on my work.

The truth is, I was stagnant. I hadn’t actually built a “real” business. Instead, I had simply honed certain marketing skills and hoped that they were enough.

At times, I felt like a fraud. I wasn’t building a real “asset.” Instead, as an affiliate marketer, I was basically a hired gun, a mercenary. And, that wasn’t as fun as it sounds.

I had always hoped that I could just keep the gravy train flowing, but I wasn’t putting in the work to make that the case.

So, once my business relationships started changing (they always change over time), I started having a harder and harder time coasting by and doing the minimal work I had been doing.

Once the money didn’t flow in quite as easily, my lack of planning came into focus.

Without a stable job, I had to figure out what my next steps were. I had to make money. But how?

I needed to reinvent myself.

For 3 months I struggled. All the skills I had learned before were useful, but they weren’t useful enough on their own.

I had gotten so used to coasting that I had almost forgotten how to work hard.

But, I was determined to figure things out.

At the time, “mobile affiliate marketing” was all the rage. It was all about getting apps on phones, world-wide, and I dove headfirst into figuring out how to do it for myself.

I studied hard. I learned about how different mobile operators in different countries worked. I learned all about how people made money through billing subscriptions, and I learned about how the different specifications of each phone impacted how well they “converted” into paying customers.

Long story short, after a lot of really difficult work, I started to see success. I started to actually make money advertising affiliate campaigns on mobile phones, in countries throughout the world.

The problem? Competition. Everyone had jumped head first into this world.

But, there was still plenty of opportunity if you played your cards right.

I knew this wouldn’t last. I knew things always changed.

But, this time I was determined to take what I was learning, and the money I was making, to build a stable life I could be proud of.

Candy Crush? I advertised millions of those app installs. Name another app that was huge at the time, and I was probably advertising it too.

I made money, I learned a lot, and I didn’t naively believe that it would last forever.

Sure enough, the mobile affiliate marketing industry started to die after just a few short (but profitable) years.

This time, I was prepared.

I took the money I had made and started building another website with a group of people I had worked with in college.

It wasn’t easy, but after a few years, we built a massively successful content website that supported full-time employees and made us all a recurring source of money.

(Yes, a lot of money was made)

I still work on that business, and I’m very proud of it, but something always felt like it was missing.

In my heart, I knew I wanted to interact with people and share my story, in the hope that it could help them too.

That’s why I created The Imperfect Marketer.

I enjoy knowing that something I share can influence someone in a positive way. And, frankly, money alone was never motivating enough for me.

So, what now?

I promised earlier that I created something that was extremely valuable to anyone looking to build an online business.

What is it?

Well, it’s just literally everything I’ve learned over all of these long years. Everything that I can share with you to help you leapfrog the painful learning process I had to go through.

3 years ago, I sat down and started creating content for what I call “The Traffic Skills Playbook.”

My goal was to share everything I could think of from my millions of advertising dollars spent and all of the ups and downs I experienced along the journey.

I wanted to create something that would help other people with the same dreams as me skip the painful learning curve I experienced.

I wanted to make it easier for people who want to live their dreams and actually make money online instead of stressing about it endlessly and spinning their wheels.

Just recently, I finished that long, difficult process. So, what exactly did I create?

The Traffic Skills Playbook is:

  • Every secret about traffic generation and buying advertising online that I can teach you, gleaned from well over 7 million dollars in personal advertising spend.
  • How I've spent millions on Facebook, including exactly how I set up my campaigns.
  • How I get free organic traffic, including the step-by-step process for finding keywords and creating content that Google loves. (I've used this exact process to build a website that gets over a million organic visitors a day)
  • All the tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way. What to worry about, and what to ignore.
  • Over 140 lessons and 138,000 words detailing everything my experiences taught me about making money online and owning a successful business.

All leading to the crown jewel: A step-by-step course with over 7 hours of video content, where I show you exactly, in detail, how to build a profitable website completely from scratch.

Believe it or not, the demo website I built for this course has been left up and untouched for 6 months now, and is still generating ~$10,000 a month in revenue and ~$6,000 a month in profit.

The crazy part? Anyone can re-create exactly what I did. I show you everything.

Back to my first question

I hope I’ve answered why I created this website and what I have to offer.

Look, I'm really not some slick salesman. I know how to advertise online, and how to make money, but I am not built to convince people to buy something. I can only be honest.

So, earlier, I asked you what this type of valuable information was worth to you as well.

How much would you pay for everything someone with years of experience can share? All of the secrets, the tips and tricks?

Truth be told, this is worth thousands of dollars. It really is. I would have saved myself thousands upon thousands of dollars if I had access to this type of information along my journey.

But, I don’t want to charge you thousands of dollars. I want to share my story.

So, hundreds?

Nah.

I just want The Imperfect Marketer to be self-sufficient.

So, how much?

For a real-life blueprint on advertising successfully online and building a profitable business?

$99?

Nah.

$75?

Nah.

I’m selling the Traffic Skills Playbook for $47.

(That also happens to be the favorite number of my math teacher in 7th grade.)

For $47, I’ll give you my blueprint for online advertising success.

Why is it so low?

I just want to get it in the hands of as many people as can use it.

The crazy part? I’ll refund you within 7 days if you’re not satisfied.

Not to be a drag, but I only offer this price for new subscribers.

You will not see this price again if you leave this page.

I promise it’s worth it ;)
